About Mile 1 Mortuary
The Mile 1 Mortuary is an ultra-modern facility, built in 2016 through collaboration with the Kumba 1 Council, the District Medical Office, the ministry of Teriritorial Administration and with Arete from the Ministries of Public Health
Before our facility was established, families in Kumba often struggled to find space for the proper conservation of their loved ones, as existing mortuaries were frequently full. Many were forced to transport remains out of town or bury them earlier than desired, often at additional costs and against important cultural practices.
Today, the Mile 1 Mortuary proudly offers families a dignified, local solution — providing much-needed space and modern services to support them through difficult times.

At Mile 1 Mortuary, we have expanded our services to meet every family's needs under one roof:
- Funeral Home Services: We offer quality coffins at discounted prices and provide financial support for families who require assistance with conservation fees.
- Affordable Transportation: We have invested in two dedicated vehicles to transport remains at discounted rates.
- Community Support: As part of our commitment to giving back, we offer free transportation for corpses from hospitals, homes, or other facilities to the Mile 1 Mortuary.
Our goal is to ease the burden on families and help them honor their loved ones with dignity and respect.
